Stuck in chaos? Make it VISUAL!
(our word for this week)
At times, too many thoughts can clog and clutter a good brain. There is no control, no order… and no action. Thoughts flying to and fro. In random sequence. There is no sense and no peace… just overwhelm!
Before another sleepless night, put your pen down. Or your pencil. Find a clean sheet of paper and start writing. Make it visual. Write everything you “hear”. Without censor or judgment. If it is there, it is asking for attention. And now you’re giving it. (I keep a calendar close by.)
Julia Cameron of The Artist’s Way calls it “brain drain”. And she recommends we fill three pages every day. To keep the clutter from building up. To stay connected and clear with ourselves. To remove the noise.
Writing turns thoughts into visual things. One by one, we can deal. Each is given space to speak. And we can listen with focus. If we don’t know what to do, we ask. If we need to feel, we express. If we need to dream, we do. With words. This is a safe place to process, be real and to explore. AND it clears the air space.
We’re always managing. Writing helps me. It helps me be a good listener. And a true friend. To my closest friend. The one who longs to connect, to be heard, and to make a difference.
